Ultrastructure of Egg Chorion and Its Sculpture in Two Arctiids (Erebidae: Arctiinae)

چکیده
The identification of moths has been always dependent on characters like wing maculation, venation, male and female genitalic features, but the ultrastructural egg chorion patterns have completely ignored. These are equally important for identification. In present study, scanning electron microscope was used to inspect, characterize, depict eggs two tiger moth species i.e., Andala unifascia Walker, 1855 Creatonotos transiens (Walker, 1855) referable family Erebidae. On eggshells both these species, morphological features observed great taxonomic value at as well genus levels. will enable identifying much earlier stages their life histories eggs.

15 صفحه اولChanges in Species Richness and Composition of Tiger Moths (Lepidoptera: Erebidae: Arctiinae) among Three Neotropical Ecoregions
Paraná, Yungas and Chaco Serrano ecoregions are among the most species-rich terrestrial habitats at higher latitude. However, the information for tiger moths, one of the most speciose groups of moths, is unknown in these ecoregions. In this study, we assess their species richness and composition in all three of these ecoregions. Also we investigated whether the species composition of tiger moth...

The focus of this study was to reconstruct a phylogenetic hypothesis for the moth subfamily Arctiinae (tiger moths, woolly bears) to investigate the evolution of larval and adult pharmacophagy of pyrrolizidine alkaloids (PAs) and the pathway to PA chemical specialization in Arctiinae. Pharmacophagy, collection of chemicals for non-nutritive purposes, is well documented in many species, includin...
